Senior Network Engineer
Position Responsibilities

Responsible for all coordination during planning and designing of the complex voice and data network infrastructures, procurement and implementation plans.. The Senior Network Engineer also assists with the installation, monitoring and support of internal and external network systems, including troubleshooting network performance issues and resolution or escalation of issues, as needed. This position follows industry standard practices and procedures in identifying problems, and implementing effective solutions. Primary responsibilities are as follows:

  • Deployment, Implementation, testing and setup of new network hardware and windows infrastructure
  • Determines IT operations service requirements by analyzing needs of users/departments; prioritizing modifications to core network; developing and implementing documentation.
  • Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
  • Reporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects.
  • Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access.
Requirements:
  • 5 years plus experience providing network support on CISCO routing and switching platforms
  • Experience with CISCO Firewalls (all models)
  • Experience with Network Monitoring Tools: SolarWinds, Orion and/or Computer Associates NetFlow
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of TCP/IP, Netflow, access-control lists, policy-based routing, firewalls, peering, and DNS.
  • Experience with routing protocols: BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF. Design, implementation, and troubleshooting in an enterprise or global environment.
  • Intermediate-level understanding of Layer 2 and 3 internetworking technologies.
  • Proven Project management abilities
  • Office 2013, including ability to present content directly to clients and vendors
  • Understands the need for and consistently practices effective teamwork with others.
  • Ability to interact with IT personnel on all levels to resolve issues and provide solutions in a timely manner.
  • Capable of prioritizing and managing assignments, tasks, and projects to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a detail oriented approach while multitasking in a fast paced environment.
  • Proficient in all currently supported network technology standards in use at Republic Services.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures manuals.
  • Participation in 24x7 on-call rotation 1 week a month.
  • Relies on moderate experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Uses a wide degree of creativity and latitude when working with network monitoring tools.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the Company, including communication of complex technology-related issues and resolutions.
Qualifications
  • 6 or more years of experience as a Windows 2003/2008/2012 Systems Engineering
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2000/2003/2008/2012 Server Operating Systems
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, DFS & Clustering
  • Knowledge of daily Windows server administration, including system stability, integrity, and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in Automated Patch Management and server deployment
  • Proficiency in backup integrity and recovery coordination along with disaster preparedness planning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and professional appearance
  • ITIL V3 Foundation certified
  • Strong knowledge in the following network technologies including Cisco Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Load-Balancers, VPN technology,
  • Knowledge of Cisco Firewalls (Cisco ASA) is required.
  • Knowledge of wireless networks is required.
  • Must have Project level coordination of design and deployment experience in MPLS, BGP, EIGRP and other protocols
  • Knowledge of wireless networks is required.

  • Certified as a CCNA and MCSE
  • Must have extensive networking and systems integration experience
  • oject management and documentation utilizing various tool including MS Project, Visio, Office suite, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communications.
  • Engineering or Graduation degree from reputed University or College Preferably B.SC, B.TECH
Additional Requirements
  • Knowledge of Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unity Connection and Cisco IP Telephony design and trouble-shooting is a plus
  • Strong understanding/engineering level experience on Cisco platforms 6500, 3800, 3900, 3700, 3500, 2900, 4000 and Cisco nexus platforms
